Passage: Matthew 12:24-42
When it comes to funerals and memorial services; we have deep-seated, unwritten rules. Funerals are actually celebrations that call for jokes, praise and fond memories. We put things in the best possible light. It's the time to remember the best moments in the life of the one we've lost, and to anesthetize ourselves by insisting that they’re in a better place: even if they were an outright unbeliever or their standing with God was in question.
That might be what we'd like to believe and it sounds good, but it's not true; dead people don't always go to a better place. That myth is another popular but completely unfounded spiritual urban legend.
Jesus and the Bible are quite clear— the wicked don't go to a better place. Hell is real.
