FAMILY NIGHT KICK-OFF

Sunday, June 2nd @ 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

VBS WEEK

JUNE 3-6, 2019
Monday, June 3rd-Thursday, June 6th
9:00 am – 12:25 pm
(Doors open at 8:40 am)

VBS is for children who have completed Kindergarten – 5th grade. It’s an exciting week of games, crafts, singing, snacks and most of all, learning more about Jesus!

THEME

IN THE WILD: Amazing Encounters with Jesus
This summer kids will focus in on some amazing, real-life encounters with Jesus. Each encounter is like a snapshot – a specific moment in time captured on the pages of Scripture. Through VBS, kids will discover that each snapshot of Jesus is an opportunity to respond to the gospel. And when put together, these isolated encounters clearly reveal the most amazing truth of all – Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing we can have life in His name. Are you ready for an up close and personal encounter with Jesus? The adventure of a lifetime awaits!

4. Will there be Theme Days where everyone will dress up?

Yes! Everyone is encouraged to dress up and have some fun! We will announce each day’s theme on the day before from the stage and also through our daily VBS newsletter.

5. How do I register my kids or volunteer to serve?

There are two ways to do this:

1. Go to New Vision’s website (newvisionlife.com) and click on the Events tab. The deadline to pre-register is Saturday, June 1. 2. After June 1, children can be registered in person on Sunday, June 2 at our VBS Family Kickoff Event or on Monday, June 3 beginning at 8:00 am.

6. We pre-registered. What else do we need to do?

If you pre-registered, you’re all set. Our Worship Rally begins at 9:00 am, but the doors will open as early as 8:40 am. When you get here, simply…

  • Once parked, walk your child into the Worship Center Atrium.
  • Once inside, walk up to a kiosk, type in your phone number, select your family, click the white box next to your child’s name, click “check-in” at the bottom right, and your tags will then print.  You will receive 2 tags: your child’s nametag and a matching parent pickup tag with matching security numbers. YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW THIS TAG TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD!  (You will repeat this check-in process and receive new tags each day.)
  • At 8:40 am, enter the Worship Center, find your child’s group and drop them off with their leader.
  • Be sure to hang on to the security pick-up tag that was printed at the kiosk, you’ll need to show it to pick your child up during dismissal. If someone different will be picking up your child you will need to give them the security pick-up tag, or you can take a picture of it with your phone and send it to that person. We will look at their phone to confirm that their numbers match your child’s.

NOTE: You will receive your child’s group assignment when you check-in at the kiosk Monday morning June 3. If for some reason we cannot pair your child up with their friend request, you will be contacted via email before VBS.

7. We didn’t pre-register. Is it too late?

No, it’s definitely not too late! You can register in person the evening of Sunday, June 2 at our Kickoff Event or upon your arrival any other morning of VBS. Just park and come to the registration tables located in the atrium outside the worship center. Once you’ve got your child registered, doors will open at 8:40am and at that time you can bring them to the Worship Center and drop them off with their assigned group.

8. How can I buy a VBS T-shirt and CD?

VBS t-shirts and CDs will be on sale in the Worship Center Atrium on Sunday mornings through the month of May and during the week of VBS, while supplies last.

9. I volunteered to help with VBS. Where do I need to park and check in?

All Children’s Ministry VBS Volunteers:
Parking and Checking In: Please park in the outer parking lot on the left side of the church closest to the baseball field and pavilion, and then enter through the Atrium doors of the Main Worship Center. This will help our guests easily enter and exit the campus during drop-off and pick-up. Once inside, check your children in at a kiosk. Then check in with your director in the area in which you serve or in the area designated by your director.

  • Tour Guides – After checking your children in at the kiosk, all tour guides will check in with your directors in the foyer area in front of the Children’s Chapel doors. If you have children registered for VBS or Preschool VBS, you may drop them off at 8:25 am. This will give you another 10 minutes to get to your designated place of service and be ready to go! It is super important that you arrive between 8:00- 8:15 am to get checked in, then drop your kids off in the preschool area (starting at 8:25) or in their group in the worship center, and be in your own group in the worship center by 8:35 ready to greet your kids.
  • Snack Team-You may park in the small parking lot on the hill close to the Fellowship Hall near the 3 crosses. The Parking Team will have a list of those serving on the Snack Team.
  • All Preschool Ministry VBS Volunteers: Please park in the outer parking lot on the left side of the church closest to the pond and pavilion, and then enter through the Preschool Building doors. Once inside, check in at the preschool desk by 8:15. Preschoolers may be dropped off in their rooms beginning at 8:25. We will take all K-5 children of preschool volunteers to the worship center at 8:35, Tuesday – Thursday. We ask that you take them on Monday, so they know where they are going. Please coordinate this with your co-teachers so only one teacher is out of the room at a time on Monday. More details will be given at the Preschool VBS training event.

10. How does dismissal work? When and where will I pick up my child?

Dismissal begins at 12:25 pm. Children will be led out with two of their tour guides to designated rows in a marked off area right outside the worship center on the N Thompson Lane side. Park your car and bring your security pick-up tag to the marked dismissal area outside. Parents MUST present their security pick-up tag before their child will be released.

NOTE: Children of VBS volunteers will remain in the worship center with one of their tour guides until you pick them up there AFTER outside dismissal is complete for your group. For the safety and security of dismissal time, please do not pick them up beforehand.

11. What do I do if I lost my security pick-up tag?

If you forget your security pick-up tag, go to the Information Desk in the foyer of the worship center. Please be prepared to show your driver’s license or another form of ID.

12. What do I do if I need to pick up my child early from VBS?

If you need to pick up your child early, you will need to arrive at the registration desk BEFORE 12:00pm.  After you show your security pick-up tag at the registration desk, someone will get your child and bring him/her to you.  If you arrive after 12:00pm, you will need to wait outside until children are brought out for dismissal.

NOTE: For the safety and security of all children, no adults will be allowed into the building after 12:00pm.

13. Will an offering be taken up during VBS week?

Yes! Every year we give kids an opportunity to be a part of what God is doing near and far through our Kids serving Kids Mission’s Offering. At New Vision, we believe that kids serving kids is the perfect way for us to be the body of Christ. We want our children to live out their faith in a practical way. You can serve too by donating this week and continuing to partner with us as we guide children to lives of Gospel Transformation.

14. Tell me about the Kickoff Event.

VBS Kick-Off Night; Sunday, June 2! You don’t want to miss our exciting VBS Kick-Off Night! We will begin in the Worship Center at 5:30 with our VBS Kick-Off service! This is a time where the whole family will get a taste of the adventure we will take together during the week. Then we will exit to the parking lot for more fun! We will also offer t-shirt and CD sales along with VBS registration for those who had not done so prior to the cutoff dates…meaning no long lines for you on Monday morning!
