What to Expect
It is our hope and goal to be able to minister to every family that comes to New Vision, and for the experience to be great. We have a setup and intake process that involves parents completing an Information Packet and our staff working to match each child with a buddy. In some cases, this process may take a few weeks.
A Buddy is a leader whose one-on-one focus is on their special needs child. Buddies are trained to work with the child and their specific needs. Through an inclusion process, the child will stay with their peers unless they need a break for any reason. We want each child to have a consistent buddy or pair of buddies where relationship is fostered, trust is gained, and love is nurtured.
PRESCHOOL CLASSROOM SETTING
Our goal in the Preschool Ministry each week is to engage all children in Bible stories, developmentally appropriate activities, and a music time. In each room, the Leaders have a specific schedule that allows free choice centers, story time, snack time, and music. All children are encouraged to build community in the classroom. If at any time your child needs to take a walk or be removed from the class, their buddy will assist.
Each Preschool room has a connected bathroom attached. Changing tables are available where needed. Classroom leaders and buddies can change diapers as needed, but a parent’s instructions and permission is required. A snack is provided during the 8:20 and 9:40 hours. Snack lists are posted each week. Special snacks due to allergies or feeding needs can be sent in a bag for your child.
CHILDREN'S CLASSROOM SETTING
Children spend the first 30 minutes in large group and the remaining 30 minutes in small group. During large group, children worship God through music and listen to an interactive Bible story that points back to the Gospel. During small group, children move to their classrooms and participate in hands-on activities with their peers to dive deeper into the Bible story. We work specifically with our special needs children to ensure that they get the most out of both large group and small group. If noise is an issue, we have headphones for children to wear. We provide a sensory box for each of our special needs children to have during their time with us.
