Corrections Ministry

God has called New Vision to see the spiritual and physical bonds in our prison systems broken as well! His dynamic vision and commitment to prison ministry has reduced recidivism at the Rutherford County Workhouse and the Detention Center, and the lives of many incarcerated men and women as well as prison staff have been radically transformed by the Gospel.

Our name is birthed out of a radical transformation where inmates may remain "locked up" behind prison bars, yet they experience true "freedom on the inside." Inmates often find themselves coming to a significant crisis after being incarcerated. The natural mode of thinking in such a position is to reflect upon past negative behaviors while beginning to look forward toward a new, more positive lifestyle. Predicaments such as this come around very few times in life. We believe God allows an individual to reach this place of desperation and that He also has every answer for every need. Therefore, we want to be present and available to help each person navigate through this transition and to help lead them to a life of gospel transformation through Jesus.

We have designed several strategic touch points for inmates to have the opportunity to experience Gospel transformation:

     - Online church services brought to each facility through video footage followed by interactive dialogue led by volunteers

     - Weekly Bible studies

     - One on One mentoring with inmates and families

     - Concerts/Date nights

     - Events geared toward fathers, mothers and children held at RCCWC, RCADC and New Vision.

To bring Gospel Transformation to families and inmates at the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center, Rutherford County Adult Detention Center and beyond.

To become a leading model for prison ministry in Rutherford County first, neighboring counties second, the state of Tennessee third and abroad.

Preparing inmates for transition back into their homes and into society.

God is the center of everything Prison Ministry related.

Mark 12:30-31
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
     - God's agendas are the number one priority and driving force behind why we do what we do.

     - We will continually give God the right to break into our lives, our meetings, and our agendas to change the direction at any time in order to accomplish His ultimate plan for New Vision Prison Ministry.

The family of volunteers will have ample opportunity to be discipled for the purpose of making disciples within the inmate population.

Colossians 1:28-29
He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

     - NVPM volunteers will operate like a family to uphold, strengthen, love, offer grace, disciple and hold each other accountable to the biblical model of community while offering Gospel Transformation to inmates.

Inmates within the scope of NVPM influence will have an opportunity to prepare for integration back into their respective communities through a variety of tactics and leadership. Our primary goal for each inmate is to connect with a church family through intentional outreach efforts and be discipled to experience Gospel Transformation within a local body of believers.

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

    - NVPM will be intentional to be involved in activities for families and inmates at the RCCWC, RCADC, as well as provide opportunities to participate in events at New Vision.
